End of School Year Info

Hello Eagles:

I can't believe we are about to start our summer vacation. We had a fantastic and “interesting” school year, but it was still an amazing year of success. The challenges we faced united us even more as a school and as a community. I want to thank our students for all their hard work throughout the school year especially with Distance Learning. I am so honored to be your principal and proud to be an Eagle. The entire Stone Lakes staff misses our Eagles and we cannot wait to have them back on campus.

Distance Learning was something completely unexpected and it created lots of opportunities for success, but we all worked together successfully as a collaborative team to support our students. Our amazing Eagle teachers were superstars this year especially during school closures. I want to thank each and every staff member for their flexibility, understanding, and compassion for our students and families. This year we all learned that our teachers are saints and they are worth their weight in gold. I want to thank all of our parents who became automatic teachers this year due to school closures. You all successfully met the challenge and I know that you are also excited about Summer Break.
To our fifth graders we will miss all of you and even though we didn't have a traditional ceremony we do have some events planned for you next year. You all have made us proud and we cannot wait to see what you will accomplish as you transition to your next educational journey.

We will release school supply lists once a determination has been made about how school will start next year. Postcards will be sent in mid-July informing you of your child’s teacher. We are looking at alternative communication options vs. the traditional newsletter. This is our last Sunday newsletter in this format. This summer we are looking at a variety of app based communication tools so that all school related information is in one centralized location. We will keep you posted and email you when we make that selection.

We want to thank Ms. Kathy Long for her 30 + years of service to OCPS. Ms. Long has touched the hearts of so many students, parents, families, and colleagues. We will miss her bubbly personality, but we know her retirement is well deserved. Although she will be traveling around the world (when it is safe again) her spirit will always be with us here at Stone Lakes. Once an Eagle always an Eagle.

Finally, we are all hoping that we start the next school year face to face and back on campus. The district will send updates throughout the summer to keep us informed. I will also send any necessary updates. On behalf of the entire Stone Lakes Staff, stay safe, and have a fun filled and device-free relaxing summer!

Sincerely,
Andrew Rollins, Ed.D.
